Clermont Auvergne INP had the honour of welcoming Mr Shinya IWATA, Consul and Head of the Consular Office of Japan in Lyon, accompanied by Ms Keiko SAKATA, Vice-Consul, and Ms Jessica BOILLOT, for a meeting dedicated to strengthening relations between the institution and Japan.
The visit gave representatives of the Consular Office the opportunity to meet with the French and Japanese students taking part in the 5th edition of the Summer School organised in partnership with Shibaura Institute of Technology (SIT). The discussions provided an opportunity to reflect on the students’ experience of the programme and, more broadly, on the importance of international mobility and intercultural encounters in the education of future engineers.
Beyond the meeting with the students, discussions focused on the wide range of academic partnerships developed by Clermont Auvergne INP with its Japanese university partners, as well as on opportunities to further expand and deepen this cooperation.
Particular attention was given to strengthening connections between education, research and the socio-economic sector, notably through closer links with Japanese companies established in Clermont-Ferrand and, more broadly, in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. The aim is to foster new synergies and create further opportunities for students, academic staff, researchers and industry partners.
This visit marks a new step in Clermont Auvergne INP’s commitment to building long-term cooperation with Japan, by further connecting student mobility, academic partnerships, research and industry relations.
